Abilene Crime Stoppers Top Honors

ABILENE CRIME STOPPERS RECEIVES TOP HONORS.

In 1998 while attending the 10th Annual Crime Stoppers State Conference, Abilene Crime Stoppers Board of Director William "Bill" Page received top honors as "Board Member of the Year" for the State of Texas.  

In August of 1999 while attending the 11th Annual Crime Stoppers State Conference in Addison, Texas, Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc. was named the NUMBER
ONE program in the State of Texas in our population category of 100,000 to 249,999 for the most cases cleared. During the conference, the Texas Crime Stoppers Advisory Council Office of the Governor named Rick Dorman coordinator for Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc. “Coordinator of the Year” for the State of Texas.

In May of 2002, at the 14 Annual Texas Crime Stoppers Conference in South Padre Island, Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc. received the Innovative Publicity Award for 2001 from The Office of the Governor and the Texas Crime Stoppers Advisory Council, naming Abilene Crime Stoppers as having the most Innovative Publicity in helping to promote the crime stoppers program in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.


In May of 2004, at the 16 Annual Texas Crime Stoppers Conferences in Midland, Texas Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc. received the Innovative Publicity Award for 2003 from The Office of the Governor and the Texas Crime Stoppers Advisory Council, naming Abilene Crime Stoppers as having the most Innovative Publicity in helping to promote the crime stoppers program in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas.

In May of 2007, at the 19th Annual Crime Stoppers Conference in Amarillo, Texas, Abilene Crime Stoppers Board of Director E. R. "Sonny" Goode, received the top honor "Board member of the Year" for the State of Texas.  Furthermore, Detective Rick Dorman of the Abilene Police Department and Coordinator for Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc. received top honor by being awarded “Crime Stoppers Coordinator of the Year” for the State of Texas for the second time.  Both awards were awarded by The Office of the Governor of the State of Texas and the State Crime Stoppers Advisory Council.

In November of 2008, at the 14th Annual Campus Crime Stoppers Conference in College Station, Texas, Abilene Campus Crime Stoppers Board President Hannah Lytle, received the top honor "Board member of the Year" for the State of Texas.   Officer Mike McAuliffe of the Abilene Police Department and Campus Coordinator for Abilene High School received top honor by being awarded “Crime Stoppers Campus Coordinator of the Year” for the State of Texas.  Both awards were awarded by The Office of the Governor of the State of Texas and the State Crime Stoppers Advisory Council.  Our Campus Crime Stoppers Program also won the Innovative Publicity award and the Best Radio PSA award.

 

In October 2010, Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc. hosted the 22nd Annual Crime Stoppers State Conference in Abilene, Texas.  There were 486 people from all over the State of Texas attending the conference in Abilene Texas.  During the awards banquet on Tuesday night October 12, 2010, Crime Stoppers Board of Director Walter Meller received top honors as "Board Member of the Year" for the State of Texas, awarded by The Office of the Governor of the State of Texas and the State Crime Stoppers Council.

 

In October 2018, Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc. Won the “Best Social Media Award”. Presented at the Texas Crime Stoppers Conference in Schertz, Texas.

In October 2021 Rick Dorman Executive Director for Abilene Crime Stoppers, received the Lifetime Achievement award for 28 years of dedication to Abilene Crime Stoppers Program 

These top honors show that Abilene is a crime stopper city and that with all of us working together we can and do make a difference in our quality of life.
