Anonymous calls are received via the local Crime Stoppers tips line.
676 TIPS (8477).  This phone is a stand alone instrument which does not provide caller ID, and conversations are not recorded.  The phone is answered 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Abilene's Coordinator Gary Heslep when receiving the information completes the tips information form, makes initial inquiries and then passes the information to the investigating officer. Calls are accepted regarding any publicized request for information, such as  Abilene's "Featured Crime", "Abilene's Wanted Person" or such other crime(s) the caller has knowledge of.

By guaranteeing a caller`s anonymity Crime Stoppers allows the caller to give information in a positive atmosphere without the prospect of retribution. By offering cash rewards for information leading to arrests and charges filed, the program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information.

Rewards are only paid out when your tip information actually helps to solve any unsolved felony crime, leading to an arrest and charges  filed on the person or persons responsable.  Rewards will not paid out when the information is already known to the investigating agency or investigator.

YOUR TIP INFORMATION must play a key role in helping to solve any unsolved felony crime or the capture of a wanted felon.
